De oudste is de kerk van 't Heike (parochie Binnenstad), daarna volgden de kerken van de parochies Goirke, Korvel, en Heikant.. Bijna 7.000 van de 22.000 inwoners die Tilburg toen telde. De kerk werd ontworpen en gebouwd door architect Hendrik van Tulder.
